SUMMARY

Blue Grama is a native, perennial, warm-season, short grass that seldom grows taller than 12 to 20 inches. Blue Grama reproduces only by seed, and as the seed heads mature, they usually bend into a curve that resembles a human eyebrow. It produces a low basal type growth that forms a bunchy sod.

01

EXTREME DROUGHT TOLERANCE

Survives on rainfall in the driest range country.

02

CURES STANDING

Retains nutrition after frost for winter grazing.

03

GRAZING RESISTANT

Low growth point tolerates close, repeated grazing.

04

LOW WATER TURF

Increasingly used as a low-input native lawn grass.

05

DISTINCTIVE SEED HEAD

The curved eyebrow seed head that identifies the species.

06

EROSION CONTROL

Dense sod-like growth protects thin soils.

07

SLOW ESTABLISHMENT

Native stands take time — plan for two to three seasons.
