PRAIRIE BLAZING STAR

Prairie blazing star is readily recognized by its massive elongated fibrous rootstock, ranging from Alberta Canada to northeastern Mexico. In Oklahoma, populations are found in the eastern half of the state in a variety of soils from clay to sandy. With its showy, striking inflorescences of purple-lavender heads, it’s frequently cultivated by individuals creating native plant gardens.
