PLAINSMAN TALL WHEATGRASS
Summary
Plainsman Tall Wheatgrass is a perennial, cool season, high drought tolerant bunchgrass which provides tremendous early spring forage. This would be one of the earliest grasses to green up in early spring making it a great fit into a forage gap between winter wheat & summer pasture. Yes, like other wheatgrasses, Plainsman has a high tolerance for alkaline soils. Having said that, Plainsman Tall Wheatgrass is going to be an aggressive forage producing racehorse on many soil types with improved persistence under heavy grazing. Plainsman Tall Wheatgrass would also be and excellent option for Erosion Control because of its deep fibrous root system. Lastly but certainly not least is its contribution to pheasant and quail habitat. Its winter hardiness coinciding with its tall growth to seed development through the summer make it a desired place for nesting for many wildlife and game birds.

How to Use & Apply
Tall wheatgrass should be clean-tilled or no-tilled into a firm, weed-free seed bed.
Applications
Plainsman Tall Wheatgrass is primarily used in areas of heavy grazing, especially in the spring and fall when other forages are in a “gap”. It increases fall forage when leaves are not as coarse which is highly desirable to grazing livestock.

Plainsman Tall Wheatgrass is beneficial in controlling soil erosion and water runoff, limiting water evaporation during the summer, and boosting soil health.
Plainsman Tall Wheatgrass offers excellent cover and protection for wildlife.
